After a few days that his health had deteriorated substantially, Miguel Delibes's family announced his death at age 89. With it we'll be the last of the great figures of the twentieth century, an author who, while dodging the censor, enriched the English language combining as one standard English and Castilian provinces.

Miguel Delibes (who was born in Valladolid in 1920) is, without doubt, one of the great novelists of our history. With only 27 received the Premio Nadal, by the shadow of the cypress is long (1947), its first novel. Three years later he wrote the book that every teen is forced to read (and every adult to read again) the wonderful and peerless El Camino (1950). Miguel Delibes's contribution goes beyond the literary. He was to become the English literary renaissance after a bleak period after the Civil War, his work has improved and dignified the English language, respecting both the urban and rural speech, letting his characters speak as they would if there really, not as a subject of fiction.
